1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your end device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit. They allow the site to remember certain information — such as language preference, cart contents, or your logged-in state.
This Policy explains what cookies kafetama.com uses, why, and how you can control them. It applies in conjunction with our Privacy Policy and pursuant to Art. 4a of the Bulgarian Electronic Communications Act and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
2. Categories of cookies we use
2.1. Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off. They include:
- Session and account authentication
- Shopping cart contents
- CSRF protection and form security
- Language preference (bg / en)
Legal basis: legitimate interest and contract performance. Consent is not required under Art. 4a(5) of the Bulgarian Electronic Communications Act.
2.2. Anonymous, cookieless analytics
We measure site traffic with Umami, a self-hosted analytics tool running on our own EU infrastructure. Umami stores no cookies and no personal data — it collects only aggregated, anonymous metrics (country, device type, pages visited, time on page). We do not use cross-site tracking, fingerprinting, or marketing pixels. This processing is exempt from the consent requirement under Art. 4a(5) of the Bulgarian Electronic Communications Act, as no information is stored on your terminal device.
2.3. Marketing (not used)
The Store does not use marketing or remarketing cookies. If we decide to introduce such tools in the future, we will update this Policy and request your explicit consent via a banner before any such script is loaded.
3. Third-party cookies
When making a purchase you may be redirected to the payment provider’s site, which sets its own cookies for processing the payment and preventing fraud. These cookies are managed by the payment provider and are outside our control.
4. Retention periods
- Session cookies — deleted when you close your browser
- Language preference cookie — up to 12 months
- Cart / account cookies — up to 30 days from last activity
5. Managing cookies
You may block or delete cookies via your browser settings. Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will cause parts of the site (login, cart, checkout) to stop functioning correctly.
